Install and help
Everything you need to get PropCompass running on Windows, keep your data safe and stay up to date.
Download and install
Download the installer from your Lemon Squeezy purchase receipt and run it. It installs for your Windows user, and you will find PropCompass in the Start menu. It needs Windows 10 or 11.
Enter your licence key
Copy the key from your purchase email and paste it into the licence screen as one line, with no spaces or line breaks. Your key is checked on your own computer, so no internet is needed.
Add your data
Add your accounts, enter your costs, and import a CSV of your trades from the Data tab. New to the app? The FAQ tab explains every tab, with a button that opens each one.
Back up regularly
Your data is saved in a file on your computer. Use Export backup in the Data tab now and then and keep a copy somewhere else, such as a USB stick or a cloud drive. Import backup restores it, and you can choose to replace or merge, with an undo.
Update
When a new version is out, download the new installer and run it. Export a backup first, as a habit. If your update year has ended, your app keeps working, and a renewed key ($19 a year) unlocks newer versions. Version 1.2.0 renamed some tabs: Business OpEx is now Cost Tracker, Expected Value is now Projection Simulator, Payouts is now Payout Simulator and Insights is now AI Analytics. Nothing was removed.
Move to a new computer
Export a backup on the old one, install PropCompass on the new one, enter your key, then import the backup.
Tagging your trades
Tag trades
Open the Journal tab. The Create a tag box at the top of the trade list is the quickest way to make a tag: type a name, then pick a category or type a new category name to create it at the same time. In the trade list, use Edit tags on a trade to switch tags on or off, or to make a new one. Every tag sits in a category: the built-in Strategy, Setup, Session and Mistake, or categories you create yourself, such as Market condition or Emotion. A trade can carry several tags. Under Tags and auto-tag rules you can add your own categories, rename or delete them, create tags inside any category, and move a tag to a different category from its Category column. Starter tags are offered there too.
Tag many at once
Tick the boxes beside trades, then use the bar that appears to add or remove a tag from all of them. You can also create a new tag, or a new category, from the same bar. Undo reverses the last change.
Set auto-tag rules
A rule tags trades that match every condition you set: instrument, account, entry or exit time window, weekday, win or loss, and size. The start time is included and the end time is not, so 09:30 to 10:00 covers 09:30 up to 09:59. Rules run on each new import, and Apply now runs them on trades you already have. Tags you added by hand are never removed by a rule.
Filter AI Analytics
On the AI Analytics tab, pick one or more tags to filter, choosing whether trades need any or all of them. The Results by tag card shows trades, win rate, profit, expectancy and average R for each tag. Average R uses the 1R amount you enter, or your average losing trade if you leave it blank (it needs at least five losing trades).
Read the mistake cost
Tag losing habits with mistake tags and the Mistake cost report adds up the profit and loss of those trades for each of the last twelve months.
Backups
Tags and rules are saved in backups. Backups made by earlier versions still import, and merging a backup keeps your tags. Editing tags is part of the full version; the free demo shows tagging on sample data.
Installing Risk Desk in NinjaTrader 8
Import the file
Download the Risk Desk file from your purchase receipt (a .zip, do not unzip it). In the NinjaTrader Control Center choose Tools, then Import, then NinjaScript Add-On, and select the file. If you used an earlier test copy, delete its .cs file from Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\AddOns first.
Open it
In the Control Center choose New then PropCompass Risk Desk. If it is not listed, restart NinjaTrader once.
Enter your licence key
Paste the key from your purchase email into the box at the top of the window and press Activate. Without a key it runs in demo mode and watches one account at a time. Your key is checked on your own computer, so no internet is needed.
Choose your accounts
Tick the accounts to watch and set the maximum contracts on each card. Your settings are remembered.
Installing PropCompass Orderflow Suite in NinjaTrader 8
Import the file
Download the Orderflow Suite file from your purchase receipt (a .zip, do not unzip it). In the NinjaTrader Control Center choose Tools, then Import, then NinjaScript Add-On, and select the file. If you used an earlier test copy, delete its source folder from Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\AddOns first.
Open it
In the Control Center choose New then PropCompass Orderflow Suite. If it is not listed, restart NinjaTrader once. Type a contract such as the front-month ES or MNQ into the instrument box and press Enter.
Enter your licence key
Paste the key from your purchase email when the window asks for it. Your key is checked on your own computer, so no internet is needed.
Try it on the simulator first
Click trading is off when you first open Orderflow Suite. Switch it on in the toolbar only when you are ready, and try every order action on a simulator account such as Sim101 before you use a live or evaluation account.
Where your settings are saved
Column layout, settings, hotkeys and price-level notes are saved in Documents\NinjaTrader 8\PropCompass\Orderflow. Back that folder up if you want to keep them.
If Windows or your browser warns you
PropCompass is a new app, and the installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows and Chrome may show a warning for a program they have not seen often. This is normal for new software. Only continue if you downloaded the installer from your purchase receipt or this website.
Chrome says the file is dangerous or not commonly downloaded: press Ctrl + J to open Downloads, then choose Keep. Microsoft Edge usually lets you click Keep straight away.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway.
